Four ways you need to be disciplined when using Invisalign

At Vogue Dental Care, we want to offer you as many options as possible when it comes to straightening your teeth. That’s why we carry some of the top braces brands like Six Month Smiles, Quick Straight Teeth and Invisalign. In Luton, at our clinic, we talk to you about the differences between these methods and assess which ones might be suitable for your needs.

Today, we are focusing on Invisalign. Many patients want to work with Invisalign in Luton because the system uses clear aligners to straighten teeth. These cover the teeth and are thin so they appear to be invisible to an onlooker. They are removable so the patient has control over when they wear their braces as long as they stick to certain guidelines.

When you have Invisalign in Luton with Vogue Dental Care, we talk to you about the challenges of this method as well. Perhaps the biggest is that a certain amount of discipline is required to work with Invisalign. We give you detailed advice on using your equipment and you need to follow this to the letter or you may not achieve the results you want within the treatment timeframe. This advice covers:

  • Hours per day – although you can take your Invisalign out whenever you want, you need to make sure that you wear your aligner for upwards of 22 hours per day for them to be effective. This is because the pressure on your teeth needs to be more or less consistent or your body will not react to it;
  • Cleaning – you take your aligner out to eat. Before you reinsert it, you need to clean your teeth thoroughly. In order to do this, you should get used to carrying your dental hygiene kit around with you. You also need to clean your aligner at least once a week by soaking it in a cleansing solution;
  • Check-ups – during your teeth straightening treatment, you need to visit Vogue Dental Care every six weeks or so to let us check on your progress. This also allows you to bring up any issues you might be experiencing. Sometimes we will tell you to wear one of your aligners for a longer period of time.
